I am decended from Stephen & A, Gertrude Cremers' son Hubert.
The information I have on Hubert is as follows:
b28 Mar 1832
d15 May 1891
m Anna (Beck?)
Hubert, according to my father, was the first judge appointed for Hillsboro, Mo (county seat of Jefferson CO)
Hubert and Anna had 7 children
John, William, Joseph, Anna Marie (1 Nov 1883 - 2 Dec 1849), Barney (1885-1952), Charlie (6 Apr 1891 - 3 Nov 1918 in WWI), Katie. Katie married George Arnold, Sr who was the son of Max Arnold for whom the towns Maxville and Arnold were named.
Anna Marie married Benno Joseph Mayer (11 Nov 1879 - 27 Oct 1956) Anna Marie and Benno Joseph are the parents of my father William Benno.

Since Hubert was born in Germany, he would have had to become a citizen to be appointed judge. However, I am not sure where to find this info. Perhaps the laws were different and since he came here as a child, he didn't have to. Does anyone have any info on anything pertaining to that?

I am searching for my Mayer relations right now. Benno was an orphan who worked for his passage money by being a baker on a ship, I believe he was a teen. It took him three times to make enough for passage. His parents were John and Teresa Mayer. No one still living knows where exactly he was born. I am told that the spelling is the correct one for his surname. I was hoping that one of the Becker side might have some information.

Diann
