I ph. the Allen Co. Library and they tell me there was only the federal census, 1850 forward, conducted every 10 years. The Ft. Wayne city directory, 1850's forward included some rural area on a limited basis. The genealogy library here is 2nd. largest in the nation, its downtown Ft. Wayne. What area are you in? There are also family history centers in larger cities all across the U.S., generally wherever there is a Mormon church. The public is welcome to come in to do research. Also, you may want to check ww.genforum.com/civilwar/ to ask a question about your ggfather's service record..Do you know the Company, regiment, etc? I'll ck Allen Co. soldiers lists, etc. The house I mentioned was owned by August E.C. Becker, who immigrated in 1872, from Hanover. Next trip to the library, I'll ck. the city directories for your ggf.As for resemblence, many Beckers were attractive, high cheekbones, oval face, 5'7-5'8 height, avg size, then there were some ugly ones depending on who they married into, like all families... I don't think there were alot of Beckers in that era. Looking forward to hearing from you. Jean
