My ggfather, Hans H. Becker, was said to have married Sophia there in Indiana prior to leaving to farm a section of land in Benton County, Iowa sometime after the Civil War. Was an 1860 census of Indiana done? He would have been about 17-19 years old in 1860. Still single at that time. My Dad had his rifle and bayonet from the Civil War. Don't know if he was drafted into the Union Army or not. Family oral history said he was forced to join and serve locally. Was an 1870 Census done? Where is the archives you were talking about ? My brother and I would like to visit sometime to do research on it. I really appreciate your help and info so far. When I look at pictures of my father, gfather, and ggfather I see a family resemblance that is unmistakeable. If we were related there should be a family likeness. Do you think there was that many Becker's in the 1850-60's in the Fort Wayne area? I got your phone message today and I will call you soon. I look forward to speaking with you. Garland
