Dear Mr./Ms. Ronshausen:

I noted with interest that you stated that the surname Beabout was first used by Jacob Beabout, son of Benjamin Bebout. [Benjamin Bebout (1758-1857) was my fourth great-grandfather. Benjamin had a son named Benjamin (1797-1857) and a son named Jacob (1793-1878).] Have you been able to verify through a birth certificate or written document that it was Benjamin Senior's child/children who first used the surname Beabout?

According to the information that I pulled off of someone's family tree posted on ancestry.com, the surname Beabout was first used by Samuel Beabout (1832-1882), grandson of Benjamin Senior and son of Samuel Bebout. (I tend to doubt the accuracy of much of the information that I have pulled off of trees on ancestry.com. I have found that a lot of people post information that is either incorrect or without verifiable sources.)

My maiden name is Beabout. My family and I have always wondered when our family name changed from Bebout to Beabout.
