The daughter. Mrs.Rodger Snell mentioned in the below article was Lillan, previously married to Irvin C. Hutchison who was born about 1903 in Champaign, IL. Lillie and Irvin lived in Bloomington, McLean County area and had the following children: Delores b. abt 1922; Bernita b. abt 1924; Lorene b. abt 1926; Irvin Bebout b. Feb 26, 1927; Elaine b. Nov 28, 1929. Elaine married a Bernard Moews and Irvin Bebout married a Remedious Ocupan.
104 B-Day Celebration: Newspaper article from Bloomington- Norma, IL dated Sunday, August 26, 1973. She's a happy, alert 104, but 'wearing out'.
"I'm just a little ol' lady wearing out," says Mrs. Jane Bebout, who is celebrating her 104th birthday Monday. She questions nurses giving her medication with "I'm not sick, why are you giving me medicine?" She does have a heart condition and has failing eyesight.But otherwise nurses at Maple Grove Nursing Home, where she resides, describe her as alert and in good health for her age.She's up daily, feed herself and walks with help, says Roy Nordine, a incensed practical nurse at the home. She enjoys visiting with Other residents had ministers.She attends parties at the home in her wheelchair and also church services there. Zonta Club members are scheduled to bring a cake and Leticia Green is a member will be honoring her Monday. VFW Auxiliary members visit weekly. Mrs. Bebout likes to reminisce and she has a good appetite. She has been described as a lifelong Democrat, who has been known to vote for the "other party". She was born Aug, 27, 1869, in Wapella Township. She is the former Mary Jane Sumpter. Her husband, George Bebout, died in 1948. In 1970, at age 101 , she fell in her home and was hospitalized. She recovered without ill effects. Mrs. Bebout has a son, George, of California, where she has gone to visit several times; and daughters, Mrs. Ruth Elkins of 509 N. Mason and Mrs. Roger Snell of 158 Holton Homes.She also has grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bebout has worked hard all her life and at 101 was still living alone and taking care of her housework. Her earlier working years were spent on a farm.
