Hezikiah David Beaver, Sr. and family

About 25 years ago my Aunt wrote a book "Our Beaver Family". This was pre computer days and every bit of information she included was provided by another person or obtained from a trip to some dusty archive. About 10 years ago I updated the book as "Generations Past: The Beaver Project." It included Beaver and collateral lines. The internet was just emerging as a vehicle to obtain information and I was pretty green - believed everything I was told or read - hence there are a number of errors in both books.

It is the Beaver line that fasinates me so I have decided to update and correct the information on the Beaver line only; no collaterals. I would like to get a dialogue going on Hezikiah Sr. to try to verify the information I have, prove one way or the other the information I think might be true and add anything others have discovered. Since it has been almost 10 years since I have worked on this I believe many sources are now available that were not earlier. Can we work on this?

Rev. Hezikiah David Beaver Sr. was born about 1788 in, I believe, Caswell County, North Carolina. He married Patsey Saunders on 17 Mar 1807 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. She is called Martha in some sources which is probably her name but everyone on this forum seems to know her as Patsey. She was born about 1790; probably in Lincoln County North Carolina. I have ten children for them but I won't go into that right now as what I am trying to do is go the other direction however if folks want the list, I'll be glad to add it.

I worked a great deal on a father for Hezikiah (1) to try to make sure he is a part of the primary line I am working on which is William Martin Beaver; and (2) so I could establish a "family" out of a lot of loose Beaver information I had collected. I am comfortable with Hezikiah being a part of my family (always willing to admit when I'm wrong though) because I found one of his children living with one of the folks in my direct line some years later.

I chose Benjamin Beaver, Sr. as his father (the book includes a lot of mights and ifs to explain the rational) primarily because of the information I had collected about each person I felt was family and wanted to connect. While I was never able to obtain any real sources of information I did collect dates of census comings and goings and land purchases to guestimate ages. The Benjamin Beaver I "selected" was born before 1765, married about 1780 to a unknown individual and died 5 Feb 1826 in Nebo, McDowell, North Carolina.

Older then Benjamin was James Beaver born before 1735 and so I counted him as father to Benjamin. The same age as Benjamin is Caleb Beaver, Sr. born about 1754.

For children of Caleb the census tells me there are seven. Caleb, Jr. is a no brainer and Jacob born 1800 and Martin born between 1796 and 1800 seem to fit here. Aside from that I have three missing males and one missing female. I have come to believe that a William Beaver born 1781 in NC is a good addition to this family but have not done enouch research to actually add him.

The children of Benjamin were much easier to guess through give promximate living, deeds, voting records etc. The are David (born 1775 to 1784); Benjamin Jr. (about 1776); my William Martin Beaver m Hardcastle; John (born 1784 to 1790, Hezikiah and an unknown female (born 1784 - 1794).

If you have the time and are up for a puzzle, dig in and let me know what other information you want posted. If no body is interested I won't waste server space on adding it now.

Happy to respond to any questions about the Burke - Yancey area Beaver family. Best I can tell there are two - four lines in early NC. Rowan County Beavers are not connected. Orange and Caswell Beavers are still possibles although I have worked a lot on both lines with no success. It appears that this line landed in Baltimore, Maryland and resided primarily in NC until they moved on in a number of different directions including Tennessee; Georgia; Alabama; Arkansas; Missouri; Texas; California; Oregon and Oklahoma. There are a few here and there in most every state but the above are the primary concentrations.

Hoping to hear from a bunch of you.
