Valentine Morter, of Bernice precinct, township of Cherry, Sullivan County, PA. Valentine Morter, the farmer raised a family of coal miners. Valentine Morter died died 1893, and is buried Peace Church Cemetery, township of Cherry, Sullivan County, PA, a member of the G.A.R.
1900 Federal Census, Bernice Precinct, Cherry, Sullivan Co., PA, Widow Susannah Morter, age 64, was noted as living with her single son, George F. Morter, age 26, occupation coal miner.
Susana Morter remarried June 28, 1907 as Susana Mortar to Richard C. Douglas, publlished in The Sullivan Review, July 4, 1907. Susannah Reeser Morter died January 1, 1918 as Susannah M. Douglas, and is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Dushore, PA.

The Sullivan Review

Lester Beaver, 67, of Mildred, died Wednesday morning at Robert Packer Hospital. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Beaver of Murray. For many years he resided with his parents at Murray and was employed by the old Northern Anthracite Coal Company (the Murray Mines). For some years he had been retired. Surviving are four brothers, William and Theodore of Mildred, Reuben of Elmira and Paul of Nordmont; five sisters, Mrs. Nellie Coolbaugh of Duryea, Mrs. Edward Carman and Mrs. Helen LaRue of Erie, Mrs. Carl Sherman of Towanda and Mrs. Laura Cosa of Brooklyn, N.Y. Funeral service will be held at the Holcombe Funeral Home Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Charles A. Souders will officiate and burial will be in Trinity Lutheran cemetery, Mildred. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday afternoon and Saturday.

Mrs. Edna Coolbaugh Carman, 78, of Erie, died Wednesday December 30, 1970 in Erie. She was born in Bernice, daughter of the late Theodore and Maria Morter Beaver. She had been a resident of Erie for a number of years. For the last 10 years she had been in failing health. She is survived by four brothers, Theodore and William Beaver, both of Mildred, Paul of Nordmont, and Reuben of Elmira, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Evelyn) Sherman of North Rome, Mrs. Sal (Laura) Cosa of Brookly, N.Y.; and numberious nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday in Dushore.
