I'm seeking info on the children of Samuel Johnson Beaver, especially those born from his second marriage. The following is the information I have: Please note that the Beaver family into which Mary Emeline Cargile married spells their surname without an "s." "Beavers" is an entirely different family with different European roots. Beaver Lake and Beaver Dam near Eureka Springs, Arkansas, is named for Samuel Johnson Beaver's brother, Wilson Asbury "Squire" Beaver, who had a trading post located in the area now covered by the lake. Squire Beaver's Inn is now a bed and breakfast but not owned by the Beaver family. Likewise, Beaver, Arkansas, is named for Squire Beaver. Samuel Johnson "Johns" Beaver, farmer, born 11 April 1826, Burke County, North Carolina; died after 1880, Seligman, Missouri (Barry County); buried New Salem Cemetery, Seligman, Missouri; married Mary Emeline "Polly" Cargile, c1843, Coffee County, Tennessee, Hillsboro. Left Polly for Sarah LNU, c1866, Carroll County, Arkansas, Busch, Arkansas (official marriage unknown). This created a nasty family situation. Anytime Polly Cargile Beaver was asked about her husband following the split, she would reply that her husband was dead when in fact he was living across the state line in Missouri with another woman and raised another family. Mary Emeline "Polly" Cargile, housewife, born January 1819/20, Warren Co (later Coffee Co), TN; died 21 January 1901, Cedar Township, Carroll Co, AR; buried Fuller Cemetery, Busch, AR; living with son, Andrew Johnson "Johns" Beaver, when died. Children of Johns and Polly Beaver: 1. Martin Asberry "Mart" Beaver, born 14 April 1844, Hillsboro, Coffee Co, TN; died 1922, Arkansas; married Paulina "Lena" J. Wheeler; he was named after his paternal grandfather , Martin Beaver, and his uncle, Wilson Asbury "Squire" Beaver. 2. James T. Beaver, born 22 January 1845, Hillsboro, Coffee Co, TN; died 26 Nov 1879, Carroll Co, AR; married Mary Jane Skelton, 16 Jan 1870; named after his maternal grandfather, James Cargile. 3. Sarah Beaver, born 7 May 1847, Hillsboro, Coffee Co, TN; died 23 August 1948, Onia, Stone County, Arkansas, living with daughter, Dora Richardson, at time of death; buried at Flint Ridge Cemetery, Fifty Six, AR; married Newton Monroe "Newt" Rorie, c1869; following Newt's death, she married Ashe Tilley twice;"Aunt" Sarah, as she came to be called, won the hog- calling contest at the first folk festival in Blanchard Springs, AR, in 1941; she also received a prize for being the oldest woman in Arkansas at the time and was written up in the Arkansas Gazette, August 2, 1942, "She Has Seen Four Wars." She talks about surviving during the Civil War and making pot liquor. She also said that she was looking for a husband since she had worn out two already. Aunt Sarah claimed to be ten years older than what the census records show. She was named for her grandmother, Sarah Martin. 4. Nancy Caroline Beaver, born 3 Dec 1848, Hillsboro, Coffee Co, TN; died 15 Dec 1933, Osage, Oklahoma; married Thomas Henry Hays, 1867, in Missouri. 5.
