Good for you.I agree. We have it as Mary Jane Kniessly, the daughter of Hans Kniessley who was the son of Jacob Kniessly who died 1729 and his (possible) wife Iris Lavina Shoemaker (of Jewish descent).
My grandmother, Myra Jennie Beaver Huddleston, "knew" that the Beaver's were French in origin and that we had an ancestress who was a lady in waiting to Marie Antoinette (sorry about the spelling). Our immigrant ancestor's father was said to have been fighting with the Protestants and left his family at Strasburg for safety. It is said he never returned and was presumed to have been killed in the fighting.
Grandfather Bieber came to this country alone and like his cousins, changed his name to Beaver.None of this is proven, yet, but I do put some faith in family stories.
Your cousin
