Liz, I see you have a good handle on the Beaven family in Wiltshire so I wonder if you might know anything about a William Beaven (born about 1792) who married Elizabeth Stokes at Heytesbury in May 1824. They had three children Jane, Charles and George before leaving for Canada in early 1831.

I have been having no luck finding either of William or Elizabeth's birth, parents or whereabouts before they arrived in Heytesbury/Tytherington area.

William had been caught up in the "machine breaking riots" at the end of 1830 and received a sentence of three months hard labour, however this was shortened due to a pardon. Soon after they boarded a ship for Canada.
