Hello, Peter --

I'm responding a YEAR after your post on the Beaumont Family Forum, so don't know if this will reach you or not -- but hey! we seem to be among the very few people researching this far back, and you and I have some overlapping interests. [Please see my separate post here on the de Beaumont family crest or arms.]

Besides that, my Stokes line comes from Tytherton Lucas in Wiltshire, and I'm thrilled to learn there was a Beaumont in the same area. My ancestor Christopher Stokes was a 2nd (non-inheriting) son and left the area, eventually for Virginia in the U.S., around 1600, so that's the end of my British material.

Where is the Manor of Burbage? Our family seat was in Seend, but my line moved to Stokes Manor at Tytherton Lucas (just a wee bit east of Chippenham) around 1500.

What was the Battle of Stoke? I'll try tonight to find someplace to buy that book.

Best wishes,

Carol Stokes
[Took back my maiden name]
