Alma Beaumont
Posted by: Keith Armstrong (ID *****3284) Date: December 15, 2005 at 11:21:04

In August 1889, at North Shields, Northumberland, Alma Beaumont a native of Omaha, Nebraska demonstrated parachuting from a balloon.
She had dropped a number of times in America, and once in England, at Bridlington Quay.
She next performed twice at North Shields, and then seems to have been contracted to her next performance at Stockton, Co.Durham.
There was at that time, a M.Doric, a Frenchman operating in the South of England, but apparently without the same success enjoyed by Alma.
The Omaha Public Library do not appear to have a record of this amazing lady, so does anyone else?
