I am trying to find whether there is a connection between my Bayman family of Ramsbury, Wiltshire and a John Beamond, armiger, son of William Beamond, armiger, who was Lord of the Manor of Burbage, Wiltshire in 1475. The earliest record of my family I have found is circa 1500 at Ramsbury. As many of you know in the Visitations of Devon the Beaumonts were also referred to as Beamond (the Beaumonts held the manor of Beamonds in West Bergholt and Philip de Bellomonte/Beaumont/Beamond Lord of Highhampton was apparently one of their descendants and founded the Devon lines). Anybody have knowledge of the holding of the Manor of Burbage? Also has anyone interested in Beaumonts had a DNA test? I have and the results are at http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/b/bynum/results.html Please join this new method of genealogy as it will save precious time and money in deciding what research to follow. Finally get a copy of Dr James Whetter's book "The Bodrugans: A Study of a Cornish Medieval Knightly Family" and find out why John Beaumont who was executed after the Battle of Stoke in 1487 (the same one I think who was at Burbage)was not really a Beaumont - I will not give the story away !
