I would like to know more if you have any, this is all we have so far on our family tree

Family Tree

** = our immediate family

Originally the Beaulieu's name was Hudon. During the Heugenot Rebellion, a Hudon was a supporter of the king. This Hudon was awarded by the King of France, the title Hudon de Beaulieu.

During the 1600's a Hudon de Beaulieu came to New France (Quebec) and thus started up the Beaulieu that eventually came to White Earth. The man we all came from was named Francois Hudon de Beaulieu. He was born around the Slave River region in Canada. He had many children. Two of his sons were: Bazille Hudon de Beaulieu and Paul Hudon de Beaulieu. These two brothers both married fullbloods.

Bazille Hudon de Beaulieu was born May 18, 1785 at Riviere Quelle, Canada. He came from Montreal in 1804 and worked the fur trade in the area of Wisconsin and Michigan (upper penninsula). He married O-ge-mah-ghe-zhi-go-quay, which means Queen of the Skies. She was given the European name of Margaret Racine. Together they had nine children. Ogemahghezhigoquay was born in Wisconsin between 1785 and 1790. She died around 1860 in Minnesota. Bazille Hudon de Beaulieu died at La Pointe, Wisconsin on September 9, 1838. Their children were:

       Clement Hudon Beaulieu
       Julia Beaulieu - married Oakes
       Catherine Beaulieu - married Fairbanks
       Paul Hudon Beaulieu
       Henry Hudon Bealieu
       Margaret Beaulieu - married Bisson
       Elizabeth Beaulieu - married Borup
       Sophia Beaulieu - married Henderson
       Abraham or Abram Hudon Beaulieu

Most of the children re-moved to White Earth. This is the family where the Gaird's and many of the Fairbanks came from. This is also where Bob Beaulieu, Cuffy Beaulieu, the younger Paul Beaulieu, and Theo B. Beaulieu came from.

Our families came from Bazille's brother, Paul Hudon de Beaulieu.

Paul Hudon de Beaulieu was born around 1787 at Riviere Quelle, Canada. He married Wau-ne-aus-e-quay or O-duh-gaush-e-quay who was born in what is now Wisconsin. I've never found out if they had any daughters, but they did have one son. Paul and Wauneausequay are both buried at the French Mission Cemetary in Green Bay, WI Their only son was:

Bazille Hudon Beaulieu, born January 1, 1815 or 1816. I'm not sure where in Wisconsin as I've seen it written that he was born at La Pointe, Lac la Pluie, and Rainy Lake.

When Bazille Hudon Beaulieu's father Paul died he took over the grist mill at Kaukauna, Wisconsin. He married Marie (Mary) Soulliord on August 16, 1838 at Kaukauna, WI. Bazille farmed, taught school, and was also elected to local offices around Outogamie County, in Wisconsin. According to Aunt Libbie's obituary, there were fifteen children of Bazille and Mary Beaulieu. I know of eight of them for sure, and possible a ninth. Bazille Hudon Beaulieu died at White Earth on July 7, 1893. Mary Soulliord Hudon Beaulieu died at White Earth on March 8, 1887. They are both buried at the Catholic cemetary in White Earth. They left with their children and their grandchildren in 1878 from Kaukauna, WI to live at White Earth. Their children were:

Mary Beaulieu,b around 1840 in Wisconsin (possibly on Madeline Island).m James E.        VanWert.

       Elizabeth Beaulieu, b 1860, d 1922

Here is what I have on these families:

Paul became ill and returned to his father's home in South Kaukauna on a sick furlogh. He died the day he was supposed to report back to duty on October 14, 1862. He is buried at the Catholic cemetary in Buchanon, Wisconsin.

Norbert Hudon Beaulieu, born August 19, 1854 or August 5, 1856 in Wisconsin. He married Isabelle LeMonte. They had eleven children, from what I have gathered. Norby has a wooden leg.
