Pierre,

I saw a reference to "Canada East" on another mailing list. I thought that the reference was kind of a general reference but it appeared on this other list as a reference to Quebec City. Is it possible that Alfred may have been born in Quebec City rather than Saint Hyacinthe? Alfred's marriage certificate refers to his having been born in "Canada East". I did not pay much heed to that reference given the "size" of Canada. I did not think about the possibility that the reference was really to a much more specific "place name". Is "Canada East" used as a reference for Quebec City ?
