Here are very interesting news for long distance genealogists.
Translation from La Presse- March 10-99 p.E-8
The University of Montreal, dept of Historical demography, has "given birth" last december to two CDroms for the "happiness" of genealogists.Even at 2500. Can$ total, more than 50 have already been sold in Québec and USA.
They consists of "certified" copies of acts of baptism, marriage, burial and ancient Quebec census. They include "all" acts registered in Québecfrom 1621 to 1799, in all 700,000 acts collected from parishes.
Such documents where previously only available in 30,000 pages or 47 vol. at 4300 total. The CDroms have added 400,000 acts not previously edited.
La Socieét Généalogique Canadienne Francaise ( Mr Blanchard) has got their copy.
As of May 1. the U of M. dept of Historical demography will have both CDroms on Internet to be accessible to us at a fee, which fees will serve to add on.

You will find
the content of the CD
a genealogical dictionary of families from 1621 to 1765
a repertory of unions includings parents of ..
I will keep an eye on this new Internet site and will let you know.
How say, We might finally get a fix on my wife's family name which is Laflamme from Quémeneur from french Brittany.
