I wish I knew!
This is what I know:
Elizabeth Beaudry was born about 1850-1855 in Canada and both her parents were Canadian born. She married Charles Dolan and had five children: John Henry, brn 1879 (my g- grandfather); Charles, brn about 1885; Margaret; Mary; and Francis. They lived in the Gatineau area. According to family legend, John Henry was born in New York while Elizabeth was visiting her sister; the other children were born in Canada.
Also according to family legend, sometime after the turn of the century, Elizabeth and Charles visited their children in Superior, Wisconsin (they immigrated sometime prior to 1906), and while Charles went back to Canada, Elizabeth stayed in the states. Apparently, Charles was an abusive man and Elizabeth left him.
