Dear Fleur, You may be able to find out what happened to your mother's cousin by contacting the United States National Archives and obtaining his military records. Send your inquiry to the following address: Old Military and Civil Records (NWCTB-PA) Textual Archives Services Division National Archives and Records Administration 700 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, DC 20408-0001 Also try: National Archives and Records Administration 700 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20408-0001 The National Archives will send you the proper form to fill out. Supply as much information as you can about the person to the best of your ability. Please be extremely patient as it may take several weeks and maybe months to obtain an answer as this agency has thousands of requests for records. Sometimes, you may have to request another search which may take several more weeks, but the treasure trove of info that you will find is well worth the wait. There will be a fee for the records, but you will only be charged it the records are found. Please be sure to ask for the ENTIRE file. AncestryPlus.com has military records which includes what state the veteran or their widow applied for their military pensions well as social security numbers of deceased people. There is very slight chance that this person may still be living. I'm not sure if the Archives will release records on living people. Hope this helps you, Fleur. And please share your findins on this site when you get them. Bonne chance!!!!!! Kimberly Princing Notify Administrator about this message?
