Who are these Beauchamps?
In the 1870 Lee Co., MS census this family appears.
Palestine Beauchamp, female, 35, Ala
Mary Beauchamp, female, 25, Miss
Jane Beauchamp, female, 12, Miss
Margaret Beauchamp, female, 8, Miss
Now Lee County was made in 1866 from bits of Itawamba Co. and Pontotoc Co.We know that living in Itawamba earlier then this were Levi P. Beauchamp and his brother Sabard O. Beauchamp. Both of whom had bought land here.Sabard hasn't been found in any censuses but Levi has and this family doesn't appear to fit him.In Itawamba in 1850 there was another family with names of Dudley and Anna.Anna does appear to have a daughter named Mary at 5 years old.But I see no reason yet to make the connection.
2 entries away from them are a James W. McCraw and Martha E.James could be a brother to Jesse B. McCraw who married Selina Beauchamp, although he says he was born in NC.
Gary Hawley had mentioned that a son of Nathan Beauchamp's had died in the Civil War.Do you suppose that these might be related to him?
I hope somebody recognizes these folks
Si
