BEAUCHAMP Ruth Erna March 2, 1924 - May 19, 2009 Ruth was born March 2, 1924 into a farming family in Wolseley, Saskatchewan. Surrounded by 11 brothers and sisters she enjoyed the farming life, preferring the outdoors to the indoors. As a young woman she left the community of Wolseley, got married and settled in New Westminster, BC. She had 3 children and excelled as a mother and homemaker. Throughout her life she stayed close to nature, gardening being her passion. Friend to all animals, especially cats, she cared for several cats of her own, including strays as well. Later in life she was able to fully enjoy her love of nature while living on Gabriola Island for many years. Dementia crept into her life several years ago and in 2006 she moved to Nanaimo Travellers Lodge. Even though dementia had taken hold, she still had a twinkle in her eye and enjoyed a beer and dancing at the weekly bistro. She passed away peacefully in the early morning of May 19, 2009. We wish to thank the staff at Travellers Lodge for the care and comfort they provided our mother. Graveside service will be held at the Gabriola Island Cemetery on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Telford's Burial & Cremation Centre of Nanaimo 250-751-2254
