In Reply to: More Info on John Sanders Beauchamp, Presumed Father of Allan A. Beauchamp by Philip K. Kromer of 2670

Dear Beauchamp Researchers:

It appears that Rev. William C. McPheeters ( 1823-1885 ) was born in Washington County, Indiana, rather than in Kentucky, but we aren't absolutely certain of this yet.

Regarding the children of John Sanders Beauchamp and Harriet M. "Hattie" McPheeters, we would like to add the following information:

LeRoy Beauchamp ( April 26, 1876 - Feb. 10, 1914 ) ( Information from his Certificate of Death #4833 ) - Residence at time of death: 932 Paseo Street, Kansas City, Jackson County, MO ( which, apparently, was the address of his brother John Owen Beauchamp, who was the informant on the death certificate ). LeRoy was born in Missouri, was married ( name of wife was not stated ), and was a farmer. His former or usual residence was stated to be at Ord, Valley County, Nebraska. His death certificate states that his place of burial or removal ( on Feb. 13, 1914 ) was also at Ord, Nebraska. LeRoy's cause of death was stated to be cancer of the larynx, with valvular heart trouble as a contributory cause.

The 2 children listed separately in post #2528 as "John O." and "Owen," it now appears were actually the same person. We have located the Certificate of Death #1166 for John Owen Beauchamp, Sr. ( July 16, 1886 - Jan. 19, 1949 ), who was born in Nebraska but was residing at 128 West 61st Terrace, Kansas City, Jackson County, MO, at the time of his death. Other information on his death certificate is as follows: John Owen Beauchamp, Sr., had been residing at Kansas City, MO, for the past 35 years ( indicating he moved to Kansas City about 1914 ). He died of aneurysm of the aorta while a patient at Trinity Lutheran Hospital. An autopsy was performed on his body, and he was cremated on Jan. 22, 1949 at the Elmwood Cemetery/Crematorium. His occupation was real estate. He was married at the time of his death, and his wife's name is stated to be Essie Vella Beauchamp ( who is also the informant on his death certificate ). His death certificate also states that he never served in the armed forces, and that he did not have a Social Security Number.

John Owen Beauchamp, Sr. had a few children who are listed in the 1930 Federal Census ( Kansas City, Ward 6, Jackson County, MO ). One of those children was his son John Owen Beauchamp, Jr., who was born about 1923 in MO, and was killed in action ( on April 16 or 17, 1945 ) in WWII in Europe. John Owen Beauchamp, Jr. was a Private in the U. S. Army, Company L, 386th Infantry Regiment ( aka 386th Combat Team ), 97th Infantry Division. He is mentioned in a booklet titled "The Story of the 97th Infantry Division" ( Paris: Draeger, 1945 ) ( 31 pages ).

The "Edward K. ( or R. ? ) Beauchamp" ( residing at 5935 1/2 Troost Ave. in Kansas City ) who is listed as the informant on Harriet M. Beauchamp's death certificate #4945, is apparently her son Edward who was born in September, 1891 in Nebraska.

In the 1930 Federal Census we find John Sanders Beauchamp residing with his uncle Philander Ross Beauchamp ( May 29, 1869 - March 13, 1943 ) at Monroe Precinct, Hamilton County, Nebraska. Philander, who was born in Missouri ( and died in Pasadena, Los Angeles County, CA ), was a son of George Robinson Beauchamp ( Sept. 30, 1841 - May 7, 1923 ) and Margaret Ann "Maggie" Shrader ( born on March 11, 1849 ). Philander married Minnie Mae Hutchins ( 1873-1937 ) in 1893. Apparently Minnie was born in Minnesota ( not in Missouri about 1879 as stated previously ) and died in Pasadena, California.

Sincerely, Philip K. Kromer
