Dear Kate, My grandmother(many times removed) was Susannah Swann(b.1640)who I believe was born at Swann's Point, Surry, Co.,Va., across from Jamestown Island. Her second husband was George Proctor who had a son,Goerge. Young George Proctor married Katherine Frank (mar.1693)who had a son,William. William married Ann____? and had a son,Charles Proctor(d.1784) who married Lucy Lewis. Their son was William Beecham (or Beauchamp)Proctor who died before 1803. William Beecham Proctor married Elizabeth Epperson (or Apperson) and had a daughter, Susan Beecham Proctor (d.1868)who married Joshua Sandridge in 1809. The Sandridges' had a son, Benjamin Carr Sandridge (1809-1887). Benjamin Carr Sandridge married Selina Elliott(1820-1873)in 1834 and had a daughter,Susan Ann(or Susannah)who was my great, great grandmother and mean as a snake. She married Elijah Johnson Dunn in 1864.I believe her brothers or male cousins were all killed at Pickett's Charge on July 3rd. 1863. They were in Co.H,56th Va.Infantry,Dick Garnett's Brigade.
Please tell me anything you know about the Proctors and the Beauchamps.I think they were from Virginia (maybe around Proctor's Bridge, close to the SurryCo./Prince George Co.border?????)I do know that the Sandridges',Dunns' were from Albermarle Co.,Va. Also,I read a history of 17th or 18th England that mentioned a Beauchamp Proctor who would pay mobs to disrupt his (political?)opponents. Please advise!!!
