My family originates in Hampshire (UK), the earliest record being spelt Beacham. However, all variants (including Beauchamp) appear in the Parish registers for my family; but it was mostly spelt Beacham. I live in Worcestershire (UK)where the medieval Beauchamp family were Lords of Worcestershire. The name occurs as a suffix in several Worcestershire place-names,e.g. Shelsley Beauchamp. It is always pronounced Beech'm. If I tell someone my name and don't spell it for them, they always spell it Beauchamp! I would be glad to hear from any other Beachams.
