Barbara, I'm also researching BEATTYS/BEATYS in County Tyrone, Ireland, though Anna BEATY in your family tree is probably from a different parish. The only specific townland and location name you mentioned was Alex. Hamilton being born in Mountfield, Killens Twp, Co. Tyrone. His bride Anna Beaty was probably not from very far away (if she was a native of Co. Tyrone). People often married neighbors from the same parish. IreAtlas shows that Killins township is 926 acres in Cappagh parish, Co. Tyrone. Cappagh parish is located in Strabane Upper Barony and Omagh Poor Law Union. Wikipedia describes: "Mountfield, historically known as Aghalean, is a small village in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, outside the town of Omagh. It is situated on the A505 road and had a population of 252 in the 2001 Census. It is set in a stretch of undulating countryside and is regarded by many as a gateway to the Sperrin Mountains. The village was developed mainly in the 1800s by Sir William McMahon and today is a quiet, tranquil place with its economy dependent on agriculture. Mountfield is situated in the Omagh District Council area." Cappagh parish was ennumerated in 1827 in Ireland's Tithe Applotments (taxes to the Church of Ireland). A number of Hamiltons and Beattys were listed, see below. One of these men was probably Alex. Hamilton's father, and others were very liked related to him in various ways. Keep in mind that some entries are the same man farming/leasing different acreages. H. Hamilton's 1840 marriage to Anna Beaty in a Cappagh parish church register. Its parish Church of Ireland records survive from 1753 to date and were in local custody, though they may have been transferred to the RCB library in Dublin in recent years. Early Irish marriages often state bride and groom's fathers' names (officially doing so since 1845 in Protestant marriages) and sometimes include both parents' names. If you aren't able to find the location of Cappagh Church of Ireland records, I'll be glad to check indexes further; I have the RCB index up to 2007. You can search many of PRONI's archives (Public Record Office of Northern Ireland) on-line, including freeholders' records, will calendars and the new e-catalogue, for various records of Hamiltons and Beatys in Cappagh parish and any other area of interest -- www.proni.gov.uk I hope this is helpful to you and anyone else tracing Hamiltons or Beatys in the Cappagh parish area of County Tyrone. Good luck with your search, Annie Notify Administrator about this message?
