Anna Beaty, born in February 1823 in either Ireland or Scotland, married Alexander Hamilton on 12 Feb. 1840, probaby in Tyrone, N. Ireland. They emigrated in 1843 with two young children and settled for a time in Coshocton County, Ohio. Then they moved to Huron Twp., Des Moines, Iowa, where they were listed in the 1850 census. Living next door was a Samuel Beidy, 17, born in Ohio, who lived with the family of Elijah West. (In subsequent censuses, Samuel said he was born in Ireland.)
The family went by wagon train to Portland, Ore., in 1852; Anna died there soon after they arrived.
Children of Anna Beaty and Alexander Hamilton:
1. Thomas Jefferson Hamilton, born 12 July 1841 in Tyrone, Ireland, died 7 Nov. 1913 in Portland, Ore.
2. Alexander B. (Bade/Beaty), born 22 Jan. 1843 in Ireland, died 23 Dec. 1898 in Portland, Ore.
3. Claudius Hamilton, born 19 Apr. 1845 in Coshocton County, Ohio, died 20 April 1848, probably in Iowa.
4. Anna E. Hamilton, born 13 March 1847 in Huron Twp., Des Moines County, Iowa,died 18 Sep. 1848 in Iowa.
5. Margret Anne "Maggie"Hamilton, born 21 Feb. 1849, died between 1920-1930, probably in California. She married Ward Dudley Stevens; had three chidren.
6. John James Hamilton, born 15 Sep. 1851 in Huron Twp.,Des Moines, Iowa, died 19 March 1853 in Portland, Ore.
Alexander married again in Portland and had a second family. (I descend from a daughter of this second marriage.) He was born in Mountfield, Killens Twp, Tyrone, Ireland. He and his family emigrated with his brother John and sister Elizabeth and their families.
