I descend from Elijah Beatty and Susannah through their son James Marion Beatty. I would love to correspond with you on this family.
Here is a little piece that I wrote on the Beatty's. I have Suzannah being born in New York rather than New Jersey. I got it from census records. And you?
The Beatty Family
The Beatty family can be traced to Elijah and Susannah Beatty, Elijah was born in Pennsylvania on February 3, 1818, His wife Susan was born May 26, 1818 in New York,
In the "History of Morgan County, Ohio", 1886, the following was written, "James Beatty ca~e from Pennsylvania in 1838 with his family of seven children - five sons and two daughters, He located on the northeast quarter of section six, He died in 1883," This may be the father of Elijah Beatty, but it has not been proven yet,
Elijah Beatty 'purchased sixty acres in Springfield Township of Athens County, Ohio on Sept, 1, 1853 and sold the same on Oct, 6, 1855, He later purchased sixty-two acres in Morgan Township in Gallia County, Ohio and sold the same on Oct, 9, 1863, In the 1870 Census he is living in Jackson Township of Jackson County, Ohio,
Elijah Beatty died on January 24, 1884 in Athens County, Ohio of Spinal disease at the age of 64 years and 10 days. Suzannah died 9-6-1870 and is buried in Limerick Cemetery, Jackson County, Ohio.
