John or Francis Beatty early 1700's

I am trying to track John Beatty back to Scotland. John Beatty was the first to settle in what is now Lincoln County, NC in the late 1740's. What I know is as follows:

Beatties joined with the Stuart cause against the British crown in the Jacobite Rebellions of 1715 and 1745. A Francis Beatty was captured at Preston and transported to Virginia as a Scot-exile in 1716. A Francis Beattie and other family members are known to have lived in the Augusta County area of Virginia in the 1730's and 1740's. By the mid-1740's there were three Beatty families in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. William Beatty lived in Rowan County near Salisbury. Francis Beatty had settled in Mecklenburg County. John Beatty settled in the area now known as Lincoln County.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kirk Beatty
