Hi John- I have some exciting news for you. I think I may have the answers you are looking for. I am a descendant of Robert Beattie, a mariner from Kirkcudbright Scotland. He had several children. I believe two of his children moved to Birkenhead around 1860-1870. Once was Charles Belford Beattie, the other was WIlliam Beattie. I am currently researching a William and Charles Beattie in Birkenhead and am attempting to positively track them back to Robert Beattie and Elizabeth Gordon through either death records or other such legal records. I have Census records for both of these Beatties ranging from 1860 to 1911. Two of these Census record clearly identifies Charles as coming from Kirkcudbright, Scotland, so a I am 90% sure I have the right two Beatties. We do know for a fact that one of the other children of Robert whose name was John, went to Everton, Liverpol. He was a mariner, just like the other two Beattie's I am researching. His father, Robert, was a mariner back in Scotland too. The Charles that I am researching had a son, John who was born in Birkenhead in 1884 and was a dock laborer in 1901. If you would like to learn more, I'd be happy to share my info with you. Maybe you could even help me prove the connection. I have a blog where I have document some of the Beattie Family, http://hayesfamily.us. You can email me directly at: phil_@_Hayesfamily.us (remove the two underscores. I add them to prevent my email from being scanned by bots.) Notify Administrator about this message?
