I have recently made connection with a couple of Australian descendents of this family who emmigrated to Australia mid 1800's. Would really like to meet more of you ! --------------------------- Bio of family I am researching: "Henry was employed in the shipyards of Cranton, near Edinburgh and was also a draftsman in Burntisland. The shipbuilding firm he was working for in 1854 decided to open a plant in Sydney, Australia and Henry was chosen to go there as foreman of the new shipyard for a term of fifteen years. At the same time, a carpenter was required for the company ship, which was about to sail for Sydney. Mr. Beattie signed on for the job, saving on his own expenses and allowing him to pay the passage for his family. When the 15 year lease on the shipyard in Australia expired, Henry worked for several years building boats before opening his own yard - "Beattie & Sons". He continued in the work with the help of his sons for the rest of his life." ------------------------------------------------- ekjh@mail.com Notify Administrator about this message?
