The descendents of Alexander Beaton of Skye settled in the Mabou District, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. There's an excellent book, Mabou Pioneers, which has a lot of information about the descendents of Alexander of Skye. It's privately printed, but available on-line from Cape Breton Island bookstores. Or, you could go to Mabou. I hear it's beautiful.

Alexander married Anne MacBain, sister of Gillies MacBain who died heroically at Culloden. They had four sons, Donald, John, Finlay, and Alexander, and a daughter (Mary, according to Mabou Pioneers, but your information may be better). Three of Alexander of Skye's sons were also at Culloden.

I don't think Alexander emigrated. A grandson, Finlay Mor Beaton, is supposed to have been the first settler in Mabou in the early 19th century.
