I discovered a report of a news article which had been reported - http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/oh/oh-footsteps/2002/mar/v02-052.txt - which appears to have originated in 1881. It refers to Jane Beatton born 1805 in Aberdeenshire, the daughter of Peter Beatton. Jane would be my 2nd great aunt. Interestingly the article says that Jane's great great grandfather was Lord Beatton and also refers to him as Colonel Beatton and that he fought on the battle of Culloden (doesn’t say on which side though). So far I have found nothing further about Lord/Colonel Beatton. Can anyone shed any light on this elusive relative
