Our Beeson/Beason family like most in the US goes back to Edward Beeson (c1660-1713)and Rachel Pennington (1662-1712/13). My brother recently had his Y-DNA tested, he was classified as "Haplogroup I1a". He found an exact match with a Beeson with the same roots. Has anybody else had their DNA tested? You can see the detail results on www.ysearch.com, just search by name for Beeson. I believe that the test proves that the sons of Capt Edward Beeson (1757-1837) and Ann Pennington (1771-1823) are his legitimate sons, our line goes through their son Richard D Beeson (1791-1872) and the exact match he found comes down through another line, Isaac Beeson (1728/29-1802) and Phebe Stroud (1734-?). From Wikipedia "I1a Haplogroup I1a is a Y-chromosome haplogroup occurring at greatest frequency in Scandinavia. It displays a very clear frequency gradient, with a peak frequency of approximately 35% among the populations of southern Norway, southwestern Sweden, and Denmark, and rapidly decreasing frequencies toward the edges of the historically Germanic-influenced world." note: recently there is more talk of an Anglo-Saxon I1a connection. All very interesting, but more testing would help to trace the Beeson orgins. Richard Notify Administrator about this message?
