Edward Franklin Beeson or Beason, son of Richard D. and Frances Beeson, was born 5 Aug 1815. Edward married Mary J. "Polly" (surname?)about 1835-1840 in AL or perhaps GA. They had 5 sons according to the 1850 and 1860 census - 1)William C. Beeson, born c. 1840, AL; 2) Richard M. Beeson, born c. 1840-1842, AL or GA; 3) John P. Beeson, born c. 1842-1844, AL or GA; marriage bond 25 Apr 1866, Lauderdale Co, MS to Elizabeth Missouri McHenry; 4) Henry H. Beeson, born c. 1846, AL; and 5) General Taylor Beeson, born 23 Dec 1848, AL; married 1st on 16 Dec 1868, Lauderdale Co, MS to Sarah Ellen Ward; married 2nd on 2 Sep 1891 in TX to Emma Willis; died 6 Oct 1933, San Antonio, TX; bur. Hondo, TX. In 1850, Edward F. and family were in Randolph Co, AL. By 1853, he had moved to Lauderdale Co, MS where his brother William R. and family were living. Both Edward Franklin and William R. Beeson are listed in the 1860 Lauderdale Co, MS census. Although William R. is listed in the 1870 Lauderdale Co census, Edward F. and family are not. But there are some land transactions in Lauderdale Co dated 1871 through 1873 stating Edward F. or E. F. "of Lauderdale County." In the records searched to date, the last reference for E. F. and Mary J. Beeson is a deed in Lauderdale Co signed on 22 Dec 1873. Where did they move? Where are the sons? When did Edward F. and Mary J. die and where are they buried? The youngest son, General Taylor or G.T. and Sarah Beeson moved to Montgomery Co, AR after the birth of their 1st child, Sarah Alice, in 1869. Their next child and oldest son, Louis Franklin Beeson or "Frank" was born there on 16 April 1872. By late 1874, they had moved to Pursley, Navarro Co, TX where 5 more children were born. Sarah (Ward) Beeson died in November, 1890 and is buried at the old Pursley Cemetery. G.T.'s second marriage was to Emma Willis, with whom he had 5 more children. One of the 2nd family was Nora Ellen Beeson, born 7 Dec 1897, my grandmother. Not long after G.T.'s 2nd marriage, Frank left home and did not return. In correspondence with one of his sisters, he said he had changed his name but did not tell her the new name. The family never heard from him again. About 1900-1903, G.T. and some of his family in TX went back to AL to visit his uncle Noah Pennington Beeson. This visit to AL may have been his last contact with his family. My grandmother nor any of the cousins still living know what happened to Frank. Nor do they know anything about any Beeson cousins they may have. Did any of G.T.'s brothers have families? Does any of this fit into your family? I'll be glad to answer any questions I can on this branch of the Beeson family. Jill Hastings-Johnson Notify Administrator about this message?
