Michael Beary emigrated to Rye, New York from County Tipperary in 1851 and was naturalized in 1860. He met Bridget Hayden at New Rochelle, N.Y. and married in 1852 in Portchester, N.Y. There were 14 children of this union. Three died as infants, eleven out-lived their parents. Michael died in 1904, and bridget died in 1899. Two of Michael's sons came to Louisiana, Thomas and James (my namesake).Thomas worked for Edward Douglas White, managing his sugar cane operations. James Beary became the sheriff of Lafourche Parish. Thomas Beary married twice, first to Laura Swartenbrock and later to Marie Louisa Daniels. My grandfather, Andrew Thomas Beary was born of the first marriage. Andrew married Marie A. Coignet, my grandmother. My mother, Laura Beary Dossey was the oldest of four children of this marriage. I have more information if you are interested. This is the part I am most familiar with. I am interested in making contact with any relatives living in Ireland or any relative in the states that shares my goal. Please write me with a response. thanks.
