Is it Historical Encyclopedia of Illinois by Munsell Publishing Company, 1914? If so, it's available online at this website: http://genealogycds.com/sales/Illinois.html.
It would be very interesting to see if those books cite the same text verbatim or if they provide the same content but are written separately. If the text is the same word-for-word, it would suggest that both books used the same source of information, or that one book simply copied the text of the other book.
