I have Edward Freeman Bearse as a child of this Stephen and Theodate Cobb. Edward was born in 1821 (from Yarmouth Vital records).
This Stephen's father was also Stephen, who married Elizabeth Downs. I don't have death dates for either Stephen. Do you have the elder Stephen in your records, and could the 1818 death date be his? (birth date 9/17/1767)
