I just received my gg grandpa's death record. His name is Andrew SIMMONS (1806/7, Redhook, Dutchess Co., NY - 1884, Walton, Delaware Co., NY).
It confirmed that his father's name is Conrad SIMMONS.
(I have Conrad's years as 1767/8 - 1857).
To my surprise Andrew's mother's name is Maria BEARD???
I was expecting her surname to be something else.
I have no dates for her.
In the 10 years I've been searching for confirmation of Andrew's parentage, I have never run across Conrad and Maria.
Are there any others researching the BEARD surname in Dutchess and Columbia Counties in NY between 1760's - 1820's who might be able to give me some clues as to who Maria is?
