A freind is a descendant of Lt. Charles Bearce, b. 1740 in Halifax, Massachusetts. He moved to Hebron, Maine in 1780. He was descended on his mother's side from elder William Brewster of the Mayflower. She thinks he was related to Austin Augustine Bearce who came on the ship "Confidence" in 1638. He was deported from England(?) as a Gypsy, and married a Native American. Charles is buried in a cemetery where at least four generations of Bearces are buried; there is a monument on his grave. (I guess this is in Hebron.) Charles' son, Enoch, had at least one son, Leonard Swallow Bearce, b. 1834, Maine; d. 1884; md. Mary Elizabeth Fleming, b. MA. Have further information to share. Any help would be appreciated. My friend is just getting started, but has information dated in 1981 from a relative.
