I am intrested in knowing if anyone has any information on when/how/where the Benjamin Bearce family of Chatham MA (b.1710 Barnstable, MA)changed the name to Barss. In researching my family through the Freeman connection, it reflects that the son of B. Bearce is Cpt David Barss born in Chatham, m. Rebecca Gammon in Liverpool NS and died in NS. His daughter Hannah was my GGGrandmother. It appears to have been after going to NS but has anyone discovered where or why?
