We might have a Wampanoag ancestor, and it might even have been a Mary Hyanno. If that is so, the degree of Native American blood accruing to each Bearse descendant would be mighty small. That was Franklyn’s problem: to share in the great wealth he evidently lusted for, he needed a LOT of Native American ancestors. Unfortunately, the demonstrated inventions in his manuscript have contaminated any real information it might contain. Anyone who has a family tradition like yours should treasure it, but it should not be based solely on Franklyn’s say-so.
