Hi Sharlene,
This is probably not going to help you one little bit, but I will let you know there are others looking along the same path as you.
I have a John Carl Beaman, born April 24, 1850 in Owen Co, IN. I am sorry that I have not yet discovered his parents. Until yesterday, I didn't even know I had Beamans in my tree. John moved to Clarke Co, Iowa before 1872. There may be othere in Clarke Co as well, as families seemed to travel together.
