I am searching for information on Mary Jane Beaman. We believe she was born in Manhattan, but have yet to find a record of her birth or baptism. She married John James Whalen in the New York City area around 1880. She lived the rest of her life in Long Island City. Mary Jane & John had 11 children. She was active in the suffragette movement and the Catholic Women's Action League. She owned several pieces of property in her name. She died in 1932.
Mary Jane had relatives in Illinois, including her grandfather, Benjamin Beaman. We know from an old newspaper clipping that she and her son, Walter visited the Illinois Beamans one summer.
