It has been so long since I found this book, I don't recall who wrote it. But it was basically about my ancestor William Henry Harrison Beadle who surveyed South Dakota, thus the title "20 Million Acres" There is also a county named after him in South Dakota.
It is interesting that you also are interested in the wills of Peter Wolfe& Henry Hampton as I, too found that document. One on my ancestors is named William Hampton Beadles & I have tried to connect that William Beadle to my family.
My search has also taken me to the Salem Witch trials. As my ancestors were also from Maryland-Mass. area.
The first born son of my progenitor, James Beadle, was William Hampton Beadle, and if naming traditions were kept my this family, then William Beadle was the father of my James.
