Thank you for your email and the very interesting info it contained. I wish I could return the favour and send you something that relates to your family but I am finding it difficult to find any Beadle info at all!!!
Joking aside I am getting a slightly clearer picture of my grandfather's family. I would love any addresses you have as it would be great to actually contact someone from my Alfred's family. I suspect the generations may have become a little confused in my father's mind. Alfred was born probably 20 years after James and Harriett's first two sons with whom they immigrated to Dunedin. Perhaps Walter was one of these sons and it was his children that would have been Alfred's contemporaries. My mother's notes mention a George, Albert and William as being Alfred's brothers but perhaps only George was, the others being his nephews.
It also seems a bit strange that both James and Walter married women with the surname French. Maybe Charlotte was a cousin? It will no doubt be a bit clearer if I can obtain more dates and info from perhaps Geoff and Joan Beadle.
