I am hoping someone may recognise some of these people. My grandfathers name was Alfred Beadle and he was born in 1874/1875 in Dunedin, New Zealand. He was a carpenter/cabinet maker and married Alice Bassett Hughes in 1912/1913. My father Alfred Gaynor (Arch) was born 4 Jan 1914 and his sister Alice Mildred (Joyce) in 1917. Alfred died at the age of 83 years in March 1959. His parents and siblings are proving a little elusive and anyone who could help in the family has unfortunately died. However I suspect his parents may be a James and Harriett (nee French?) Beadle who arrived in Otago in 1858 on the Nourmahal, with two sons. I don't know the names of the first two but others born in NZ, included Charles, Minnie, Charlotte, Thomas and Frederick. I cannot find any actual connection to my grandfather apart from the fact that James was also a carpenter. However, family history has it that Alfred's siblings were named Albert, Minnie, Charlotte, George and William. Perhaps a coincidence but hopefully not. Alfred also travelled alot overseas before WW1 and between the Wars. I have either a silver christening spoon dated 1914 and sent at the birth of my father, or just a souvenir spoon, from Kendalville, Indiana. It would be very interesting to know if he was in America at that time visiting relatives. He also corresponded with a Flo and a Jes Trodd, who lived at 9 Springvale Tce, West Kensington Pk, London. I would very much like to hear from you if you are connected in any way to the people I have mentionned. Thank you in anticipation, Kathryn Beadle Notify Administrator about this message?
