Dear Vince:Tom Beacom of Fermanagh is my great-great grandfather. His son, Michael, is my great-grandfather, and his son Tom (Thomas Ambrose..married Mary Coleman) is my grandfather. I was recently in New Orleans and I called a variety of places to see whether I could scare up any information about Mary (Kelly) Beacom who died of yellow fever there. There is an old family story that Thomas left daughters with the nuns and took Michael upriver to find work. When he returned for the girls, he was told they were dead.I asked about the girls one time before when we were in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl, and the Ursuline nuns wrote back that they looked in their records for the Beacom girls and could not come up with anything even close to that spelling. This last visit produced some pretty negative results.I was told by several sources that I will probably not be able to find Mary Kelly or the girls. Can you tell me where Tom Beacom and Ellen Hogan were married and when? And can you tell me exactly where the original home near Willis, Nebraska was?Was it near the house that Michael built northwest of Willis? Can you also tell me exactly how you are related to Tom of Fermanagh?I have the copy of the Beacom family history and the update. It is very nicely done, I think, but there are some errors in it that we know of now. If you can add anything to the Beacom story between New Orleans and Willis, Nebraska, or anything about the family in Ireland, I will be most grateful. Thanks for writing.Judy Schrader
