Evelyn Mary Beach was born on July 2, 1918, in Slayton, MN, the daughter of Jerome & Nelda (Morin) Beach. She grew up in the Slayton area and graduated from Slayton High School. She was united in marriage to Nels Forsberg who died a short time after their marriage. She then was united in marriage to Clifford Pommier on August 20, 1946 at the Church of St. Anne in Slayton, MN. Following their marriage, the couple farmed near Currie, MN, and later farmed for many years northwest of Belgrade, MN. In 1970, the family moved to Montrose, MN, and in 1995 they moved to Buffalo. Evelyn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Buffalo and a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly.
Evelyn's home was a place of great tradition. The scent of homemade mashed potatoes, chicken and dumplings, and her famous cinnamon rolls welcomed her guests as much as her warm, gracious hugs. The grandchildren had their own "Christmas tree" (actually an artificial palm tree) to decorate each year and they could expect to be ruthlessly spoiled when Grandma babysat them.
Evelyn's legacy will be carried on by her children: Donn (Marilyn) Pommier of Willmar; Gail (David) Poirier of Buffalo; Harley (LeAnn) Pommier of Buffalo; Julie (Brad) Burns of Buffalo; Randy (Kim) Pommier of Florence, Kentucky; Deb (Mitch) Ackmann of Buffalo; grandchildren: Mike (Ann) Forsberg, Pam (Mike) Haakinson, Neil (Wendy) Forsberg, Lisa (Pat) Bolter, Stephanie (Bob) Guenin, Matt Pommier, Jason Poirier, Angela Poirier, Josh Pommier, Justin Burns, Jenny Burns, Jordan Burns, Bruce Pommier, Kelli Pommier, Laura Ackmann, & Davis Ackmann; great-grandchildren: Alexander, Adam, Lindsey, Andy, Aranda, Stephanie, Mason, Brittney, Zachary, Jacob, Kelsey, Michael & Isabelle; daughter-in-law, Maddy Forsberg of Slayton. Preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Nels Forsberg and Clifford Pommier, sons, Bruce Pommier and Nels Forsberg and great-granddaughter, Diedra Forsberg.
The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo served the family.
