This information comes from several sources 1. Roddy Baze 2. 1860 Census 3. a lot of hard work. I hope this helps somewhat:I believe there was a first wife, before Mary of the 1850 census, and then the 3rd wife, Sarah in the 1860 census. I DO NOT BELIEVE SARAH IN THE 1860 CENSUS WAS THE MOTHER OF ANY OF ABEDNEGO'S CHILDREN. I BELIEVE MARY MAY HAVE BEEN THE MOTHER OF, at least, JOSEPH L., N.J BAZE., POSSIBLY ABEDNEGO BAZE, JR., AND SOME OF THE OTHER CHILDREN. BUT BASED ON HER AGE IN 1850, (50 YRS), SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN BETWEEN 8-12 YEARS OLD WHEN THE FIRST TWO CHILDREN ATTRIBUTED TO ABEDNEGO WERE BORN. It is possible she could have been the mother of the third known child, William Benjamin Baze, who was born in about 1813. William Benjamin named his first known child Mary Ann. Jesse Henry Baze, b abt 1817, also named his first born daughter Mary Ann. Doctor Peter Baze named a daugher Mary Jane. Elizabeth Baze Chandler named a daugther Mary. Squire Baze named a daughter Mary. Therefore, I believe the family records should be changed to reflect different mothers.
There is record an Abednego Baze married a Sarah E. Pinkley in Barry Co., MO. 20 Feb. 1858. (Note 1860 Federal Census below)
1860 Census-Barry Co., MO:
I know this was alot but it was the only way to explain why we believe as we do.
The Sarah Pinkley and the first wife who could be Sarah E. Shultz are conundrums with all Baze followers. Sarah E. could be Sarah E. Shultz (sister? to Mary Shultz) since there is an Abendego in NC who married a Sarah Shultz then a Mary Shultz. This is all I have currently. Good Luck, Sharon
