Bazan Family Genealogy Forum

Dear Kurt:
I was a Bazan by marriage. Although I have divorced, I still stay in contact with my extended family in Mexico. There are many, many Bazan's in Oaxaca Mexico and have been there since about the time of the Spanish Invasion. All of the people in my family are pretty clear that the name comes from a Spanish ancestor. Although the Bazan name shows up world wide, most often the family originates in Mexico. I would start your search there. In regard to your question on the Coat of Arms. Most of what you will find on the internet is very generic. It may be the Bazan coat of Arms for one large branch of the family, but there are usually a large number of these emblems attached to one name, and they will vary depending on the person they were attached to. To truly find your family coat of arms, you would first need to know specifically who your family was/is and then determine whether they had a coat of arms registered. At that point you might be able have a coat of arms created from the registered description.
