james baynard 1630's england
Hi,
I have recently (like Saturday) come across a reference to a James Baynard who had a marriage licence issued by Salisbury diocis in August 1631 for permission to marry Joane Fisher, bonded by her father John Fisher. All given as being of Lacock, Wilts.
My problem is that I am unaware of a James Baynard, at any time anywhere let alone in Lacock in the mid 17th C.Can anyone shed any light? He doesn't appear in any of the parish records for Lacock, either birth, marriage or death. He might be from the Somerset or Devon branches which were established the generation before but as far as I know there werent any James' there either.John and Joan Fisher do (Joan had several illigitmate children, one of whom was baptised some 20 days after the licence was issued) but no James.
Help!!
Cheers
Tony
